Quick question Battery Cables
Just wondering where all the battery cables go, I think the positive goes to starter and then to the alternator but not sure where the factory grounds are from the negative cable. Thanks

Re: Quick question Battery Cables
Yes the heavy positive wire goes from the battery to the largest lug connection on the starter. A smaller wire then makes its way to the alternator and to the bulkhead connector on the firewall. There is a terminal block and a fusible link in this wire as well.
The negative cable goes from the battery to the engine block. The exact location depends on the engine. There is also a wire from the battery negative to the radiator core support, and from the engine to the chassis and from the engine to the body on the firewall. Can never have good enough grounds.

Mine also has a negative battery lead going to the alternator bracket.

Re: Quick question Battery Cables
if you are having starting problems this is how to fix it.
1. the wires are a size or 2 smaller then they should be on some years. i run 4 gauge on mine or 2 depending on what the fac size is i dont remember right now. 2.batt to starter + then batt neg to starter bolt. this is with the SAME size wire as the pos. hate when i see people cut it down as they say its just the neg not as important.... right. then run form the bolt or the batt to the frame and rad support with fac size also dont be afraid of the mesh grouding straps they work well. 3. the last thing is prob the biggest and most over looked thing there is. get a good batt. not a 500 for a honda. when something gets hot or gets old you need more time to crank sometimes and that time wil be on a trip with the wife in the snow at a gun shop that she didnt want to stop at on the way to YOUR mothers...... ask me how i know

Re: Quick question Battery Cables
I'll backup the idea to use decent battery cables! I use 1 gauge on my trucks, as it was the heaviest I could commonly find. With a good battery, this makes a noticeable difference in cranking speed. Consider that a wire rated for 500 amps continuosly is about 13/16" in diameter without the insulation.
