pictures of under dash a/c unit?
I have a 57 swb and I want an under dash a/c unit. I do not need the full inside system like vintage air, the under dash surely will cool the small truck even here in central TX.
The edge of the dash is 8" from the firewall in the middle of the cab, and they say you need 12". That means you have to have 4" sticking out and I would like some pictures of your install to see what it will look like. thanks |

In my 59 I smoothed the dash and a Vintage Magnum is a very tight fit. had to trim the bottom edge to clear.

Re: pictures of under dash a/c unit?
If you're not picky about the latest appearance stuff I mounted a a regular commercial underdash hang down unit in mine (57). I used a A-6 GM compressor on factory 66 brackets with short water pump. I'm in Phx and it would run me out of the cab in the middle of the summer. Install was trivial, screw the brackets to the bottom of the dash, holesaw the hose access. It was noisy on Hi fan, but couldn't leave it on hi fan very long anyway.
