another sending unit question

I am working on getting my 65 c10 lwb on the road again. Everything was working fine when the truck was parked I just pulled out the tank to clean and drain out any old gas and junk. When I got the sending unit out I noticed the flat wire that should be connected to the inside top of the unit was broken off. Can it be soldered back or do I need a new unit?

Re: another sending unit question

It should be able to be soldered. It somewhat depends on just where it is broken.

Re: another sending unit question

I don't have a picture. I soldered it where it connects to the top inside of the sending unit. But now I don't get any reading when I tested it. So I went ahead and ordered a new one. Hope the new one lasts as long as the old one it was only 50 years old. lOl My Dad was the original owner of the truck.
