Oil pressure wiring to 90 Suburban gauges - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm trying to figure out the wiring for swapping the 90 Suburban gauge cluster into my 86. My truck originaly had the idiot lights. I found the pin outs and have swaped the wires swapped around. What I'm having questions about is the oil pressure gauge. I got a new harness form BP Automotive which does not have the conneter for the oil sending unit. If I get the connector for it from the original harness, will one of the wires have the correct reading that I can run to the pin location on the gauge cluster harness and have the gauge read correctly? If not, what is the best route to take to get the Suburban gauge working?

There will be a Dark Blue wire in you original under hood harness that originally went to the oil pressure switch for the idiot light.

Reuse the same wire for the oil pressure sender, Should have the right connector on it already (Offset Spade).

Same goes for the (Dark Green) Temp wire.

Using senders for gauges & repining the cluster plug is all that's needed.....Reuse the wires.

Buy an Autometer 2268 adapter, it's 11.75 on ebay. It threads in where the stock oil pressure sender goes behind the head, and converts it to a 1/8 NPT port that you can thread the 1990 sensor into.

This is the adapter that I used in my 76. Works good for my mechanical gauge.

As an update, I got the stock oil pressure sender installed on my 5.3L. I did find one hangup, however. the stock valley pan bolt does not allow the sender to thread all the way in. Just pickup a hex head M8x1.25X30mm bolt at your local hardware store, the head is about half the height and will allow the sender to thread all the way in.
