LQ4/4L80E out of 06 3500, questions

I have a chance to pick up a 99k engine/tranny out of an 06 3500. It was a utility bed truck, something caught fire in the back, the cab is junk but there's no evidence of fire in the engine bay.

I can pick it up for a grand, engine/tranny/ecu/radiator. That's the best price I've found. Any reason not to go for it? I might pick up the rear end too, depending on if it has a locker. Are there any other parts I should look at?

Can't beat that for a grand, Around here a LQ4/4L80E complete package goes for about $3500.

Get all the Body to Engine connectors under the UnderHood fuse box. You can use the fuse box for your swap & not have to modify the engine harness.

Well, we know it was on fire. How melted is the wiring and stuff? or did it get spared.

I haven't looked yet (it's an hour+ drive from me), but he claims the wiring under the hood is ok, but the rest is ok. I guess I'd likely need a new gas pedal in that case (06 is DBW right?), but the rest of it is likely ok - especially if I'm buying a new harness for it.

I think it's a deal even without the harness. I'd say jump all over this.
