2nd Gen/ 3rd Gen Frame swap.

Have a 1967 C10 that is unrestored and I want to have a ratty look. Everything is still pretty much original on it, but not in good condition. I'm considering building a frame with an LS,4l60e (or 4l80e?) for it and then putting the body on the rebuilt frame I have a 2wd frame from a 78-79 C10. Whats the worst parts about doing a frame swap like this? Definitely have access to a torch and wire feed welder. Is it easy enough it is worth doing this or should I go buy a 72 with disc brakes for ~$700 and start there?

Re: 2nd Gen/ 3rd Gen Frame swap.

Welcome to the site you will find a wealth of knowledge here. I would say stick to the 72 frame, the kick up behind the cab and there in that area is too great to compensate for on a 2 wheel drive truck, some have done this swap on 4 X4 models but it needs a frame body lift to work. Just get the 72 frame and have it built and ready to go then swap over the parts. Jim
