My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Thought I might as well post a thread on my 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser. Spent about 2 years building it, and been driving it for about the last 2 years or just past 9000 miles.
It has a new LS-2 crate motor with a nasty (Tick Performance) cam, a Tremic 6 speed manual transmission, a S&W Racecar backhalf chassis, a 9" FERD rearend with 411 gears. She's black and straight as an arrow (thanks to my great bodyman Corey) and hauls the mail.

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Thnanks guys. Yeah she's sweet. Hooks like a mutha too. One and only trip to the strip kept smoking the tires for the first 50 feet so I kept dropping air pressure. around 6 PSI on the 5th pass she hooked. Spun the drive shaft like a piece of salt water taffy into two pieces.
Good news was it was a 30 day old shaft so I took both pieces back and they made me a new, bigger, shaft.

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Thanks to all of you guys who have posted on this with kind words. I forget to check in every once in a while as I am more focused on building Homer right now. Mary Elaine (my 67) is just sitting patiently waiting to go out and tear up some asphalt. At 110* I am pretty sure it's not hurting her too bad to stay put in the garage though.

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Wayne,
Chevelle is beautiful. I'll bet a black chevelle in the Arizona desert heat is quite warm this time of the year sitting at a red light. But I'd sure put myself through it. ![]() |

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Wayne, you have a beautiful car there! Do you have any under hood shots available?
The first engine I ever rebuilt was a small block in a 67 Chevelle so I have a soft spot for them....oh who am I kidding, I have a soft spot for about all of the old Chevies. |

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Did you use Kwik brackets for the ac?

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
I used the Kwik brackets on our 56 and plan to try the Holley brackets for the AC on the next one. They have a decent looking product.

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Send me some pics when you use those Holley brackets? I had to modify the kwik brackets some to get them to track correctly so I would be interested to see if the others are truly bolt on. Got another ls going in something one of these days.

Re: My 67 Chevelle weekend cruiser
Here is the bracket without the idler in the way. This one is in the 65 Suburban I mentioned...a much cleaner look than the Kwik bracket.
