Air intake tube options

What are you guys using for airtube and filter? Battery is being moved to the back....so I can go left or right. Going into a 66 with an LQ4.

I used a stock airbox setup. Cheap and easy to find.

*I have pics in my build of the intake kit I started with. Its the 2004 Silverado cold air intake which you can easily find in 50 version on ebay for under $50...which has had the tubes flipped and brackets trimmed. I did add an additional bend from Spectre, but only because my intake had been modified already once before. But its possible to make a functional intake with just the cheap Silverado kit by itself.

I used spectre fittings and filter and 4" mandrel bent alum tube...got everything i needed off ebay.

No problem. The cover is the 3-piece vortec max cover. It came on some of the Denali's, Yukon XL's, and I think a couple of the high-option package trucks. Its the same basic cover as the "vortec 6000" and Cadillac 3 piece covers, but the center just has "Max" on it instead of something else. Lettering was just hand painted on since everyone kept asking what size motor it was.

If you are using MAF sensor, make sure you have 4" tubes. I got a unit off Ebay that downsized from 4" to 3.5" at the throttle body and kept getting codes. Changed to 4" and no more problems.

The throttle body and MAF are 85-92mm depending on exact combo, either of which shouldn't have a problem with a 3.5" tube (87mm is ~3.4")

Are you sure it was the tubing size that caused the issue, not the actual placement of the MAF in relation to the tubing and bends?

So despite the math actually working, I was looking at another manual from a crate engine which actually does list a 4" diameter tube. Though it doesn't rule out a 3.5", it does specifically refer to a "4" tube. I've got the text below.

I used two eBay Silverado kits with a k&n. Mass needs to be in the longest straight section of pipe at least 10" away from the tb for best results.

The advice that you've been given so far is good and is directly in line with the GM recommendations, but I found that MAF placement was quite forgiving in my case. I attached the MAF directly to the throttle body and it runs great and has never thrown any codes.

Mine was directly on tb too and seemed to be fine , that is until I dropped a cam in it. Then it started running lean and popping through the intake.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

And what are those valve covers and/or heads with the perimeter bolts..??
