Going back to stack axle on a 54 1/2 ton?

I have found a truck 54 1/2 ton that has a pacer front end currently----I understand it was a somewhat popular swap years ago.Regardless ---If I buy it I would rather go back to a stock straight axle with disk brake swap ect.
My question---what years front axle will bolt back on to the 54 frame----the pacer swap does not require frame mods and it SHOULD be a bolt on deal?

Thanks chip

I believe 47-55 first have a narrower frame than 55 2nd -59 which means the spring mounts are closer together.

Yep it has to be an AD front axle. If they got lazy and left the spring hangers in place at the back of the front springs it should be a simple swap with just a lot of grinding after you trim the Pacer front end off. Parts should be easy to find for the stock front end.

Re: Going back to stack axle on a 54 1/2 ton?

Got a picture of the truck? I sold my '54 which I put a Pacer front under about 15 years ago and I wondered what ever became of it. Mine also had a tilt front end on it and mini tubs in the bed when I sold it.
Thanks Rob
