guys i'm normally posting in the 47-59 forum but took some pictures of my 70 blazer and have a couple questions: did the factory yellow have a name? It still has factory assembly line marks on firewall. Were most of them manual transmissions? Is their a data plate other than glovebox door? time to decide weather to devote some time to it or send it down the road? needs TLC! THANKS!

If the info on the inside of the glovebox is there, it has the most info. I don't think I'd say "most" had 4 speeds but some for sure. I believe the special name for that color is "light yellow" but I may be off.
Clean it up- looks like a good rig- just noticed it is a CST, very good one. Greg

Your yellow appears to be the Light Yellow as opposed to the Dark Yellow or Ochre. I think '72 was when they really got fancy with naming the colors like "Grapefruit Yellow" and "Wheatland Yellow". It looks like yours is a 350 and I believe 3.07s were standard, but I'm sure you still could have had a 3.73. The only info that comes on the truck besides the SPID is in the form of firewall and assembly markings that you noted (They generally indicate build sequence, Eng, trans, booster (if equipped), A/C(if equipped), and trim level). The VIN tag in the door jam from which only year, model, plant, cyl(6 or 8), and serial number can be gleaned. The frame is stamped with the serial number as well. The transfer case should have a build tag, the axles will be stamped also indicating date of manufacture, type, ratio. There is also a blue decal on the the drivers door that has the VIN and build month/year. The dash pad, top, carpet, seat cushions and instrument panel will also have date of manufacture decals, tags or markings. Of course the engine will have casting numbers as well. If you don't have a Protecto Plate or any of the original paperwork, the SPID is really the only birth certificate these trucks have...no trim tags.

If yours is a St. Louis truck (S is the sixth digit in the VIN), I'd be interested to know the build date, especially if it's a January or February 1970 truck. Just check that blue door sticker if it's still there....and more pics if you got em. Love those 70s.
