Sound/heat reducers

Guys,
Other than preference, is there advantages to using mat type to spray type noise reducers? I have seen many of both applications on here and wonder if it is merely choice or does one work better than the other? Or just a cost factor?

Something like thermozite foil backed mat is easier to handle and clean up. Sprays you have to tape off just like when painting and clean up is not as easy. With the mat type you can do an entire cab for under $300 with the sound deadener and insulation. sprays you need a spray gun, cleaning up solvents, tape and all the normal painting items.

On the 1950 cab we just did we put high temp foil faced heat barrier where the exhaust goes under the toe boards and at the back of the engine on the outside firewall. Inside we used vibration damper strips placed 6 - 8 inches apart and then Thermozite foil backed insulation covering all of it. I like the Termozite better than the other rag type jute floor insulation, its made of poly fiber so if it does get wet it won't mold up and rot.

With the spray I believe you can tint it to match your firewall color but you still need the jute inside under the mat.
