in 1960 did they worry about having a red and black battery cable or were both black?

Re: Battery Cable Colors

Lectric Limited has the correct Spring-Ring Battery cables, right gauge, and has "spring ring" and N or P stamped on the end and Part number on the cable. Positive is black and negative is brown. https://www.lectriclimited.com/
