Transmission crossmember question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1987 V20(4wd, 3/4 ton) long-bed truck with a manual transmission, and after struggling for quite a while getting the motor mounts to line up, I realized the problem was a severely bent transmission crossmember. I think replacement will be the simplest option, and we do have a quite decent junkyard nearby with a lot of these older trucks.

What vehicles am I looking for to find a replacement? Is this crossmember the same as 1988 and up, or 1986 and down? Is the crossmember the same for manual vs. automatic? 4wd vs. 2wd? 3/4 ton vs. 1/2 ton?

Any advice you can give will definitely be appreciated!

I believe it is 85-87 then 88-91 k5s suburbans I beleive the cross member is the same from auto or manual and no the 88up ck's have a wider frame. Also they are specific to 4wd as well and 1 tons are also shorter because the frame is taller

Depends on the engine (but apparently not the transmission). I think that if you have a standard "M" code 350 the trans cross can be pulled from a "V" of any rating - model years 87-89. I'll let you figure it out:
