tilt/telescoping column

Can anyone, based on experience, advise me on which GM tilt/telescoping steering column is a relatively easy fit in a 64-66 C10?

Re: tilt/telescoping column

When I was updating to power steering, I too wanted one for my 61. I found one that I thought was from a Camaro (had the emblem), but a Camaro expert informed me that the telescopic was not offered in Camaro's. It also did not have the trans-shift arm either so I guess someone else removed it before I got it.

Further research discovered to it be from a 67-68 Cadillac unit.

-First photo is my "Camaro" tilt/telescopic.
-Second one is for comparison seen standing next to my 61 column.

I had to cut down the lower part of the column-cover to get it closer to the dash.
The horn works as do the turn signals but the hazards will require a flasher. I have to get the correct connectors to mate up the wiring better then what I have now.
It does still have that square GM key in the upper column that locks it. I'll probably have to take it out again to disable that feature or maybe rewire to use it as the new key. It all works and I think I paid about $80 for the column.

Not really a fan of the steering wheel itself (seems to be part of the whole tilt/telescopic unit, so not sure if it can be replaced), I added a Skull emblem and fake ostrich cover. That's all I can recall about that.

Here is a similar one on EBay now;

Re: tilt/telescoping column

I have not installed one in a '60-'66 truck but I used to have a '66 Caprice that had a tilt telescoping column that I think would work fairly well. I just don't know how available one like that would be.
