LS Swap thermostat

Just swapped a 2003 5.3/4l60e into my 72c10, my tuner has my fans at 186 and 195. He said I need to change my thermostat. Do I need to? Or should I just up my fans to 195 and 205. I have no ac or heat in truck. The motor is stock with a tune. I think it has a 187 or 190 stock thermostat

Re: LS Swap thermostat

Up the temp the fans come on, No need to change Thermostat temp, Engines need to run at operating temperature to burn the water out of the crankcase. 220-230 degrees does not hurt these engines.

I had a '50 Studebaker truck, swapped in a '98 LS1 with a old "Jack-Shaft" Magnuson Blower on top, Radiator options were few & space was limited......Ran temps up to 260 degrees several times without issue in 110 degree Texas heat with 15 pounds of Boost at full tilt.

As long as it isn't boiling over....I don't worry one bit!
