Mufflers - LOUD mufflers

Hello,
I am looking for some old mufflers called "Orange Peelers". Does anybody know if these are still around?
Also, Cherry Bombs, not the turbo cherry bombs, the round LOUD cherry bombs. Does anybody know where I can get these?
I am going to put headers and 2.5" exhaust on my 77 K-20.
Thanks,
Dana

I got my cherrybomb glasspacks at Pepboys. But you can get some from JCWhitney I think? I got 24 in. I just ran my truck for an hour and went to the carwash and spray in the tailpipes and blew all the glass out. They're just straight flow mufflers now. They don't muffle anything.

Hey Soulman67,
Thanks for the info. How do you like the sound after you sprayed water in them and blew out the glass? Are you running them on a 67? What dia. of exhaust are you running? Do you have full length exhaust?
I have heard of soaking them in oil and then installing them.
I have also heard of folks installing them backwards.
Has anybody heard of the oil and reverse installation before?
How about the orange peelers? Ever heard of them?
Thanks agian,
Dana

I had them on my 67, yes you can put them on backwards to make them louder. The sound great with the glass blown out, but they sound good before I did that. It gives your truck a real deep pop. I had them on 2 1/2 inch full length with 3 1/2 in bell tips. Which I have the same setup on my crewcab and it is even louder.

I have never heard of orange peelers. But I have heard other brands of glasspacks non of which compare to the great sound form a set of cherrybombs.

Hey the louder the better.

Thanks Soulman67,
I went to Pep Boys yesterday and picked up a pair of 2.5 Cherry Bombs. Now I just need the headers.
As for Little Damn 8 R, Johny Law is a little different here, Not like the BIA! As for the Rice Rocket, I don't want to intimidate anybody, because she real fine like a 409! HEHE!!!...
Thanks for the help all,
Dana

why dont you go ahead and knock a couple of your teeth out, buy a trailer(if you dont already live in one) and marry your sister, too while you're at it. so many better flowing mufflers out there, and so many of them have a sound that is 100X better than a glasspack. not to mention they last longer

Got me.
Maybe he got beat by a loud truck that was owned by a toothless man that was married to his sister and lived in a trailer. Anyway, he has got a good point.

All I can say about this whole ordeal is "Old School - Old School"!
My mom always told me if you can't say nothing nice, then don't say nothing at all.
"Well sir, you have a point".

Everybody knows that glass packs do not flow worth a darn, I believe my question was about "LOUDNESS", Get it, "LOUDNESS"! I want pipes on the truck not in the truck! Enough said.

ok, how about this... i'm gonna use one i got from Mike... "you get what you pay for" so if you pay for non flowing hideous sounding crap, you're gonna get non flowing hideous sounding crap. hopefully you'll get one of those really cool raspy sounds that cracks and pops every time you let off the gas. that is SOOOO cool.

BTW, i didnt get beat by a truck with cherry bombs on it, i owned one. then i saw the light, and bought a set of Flowmasters. not only did my truck sound better, but it ran better too.

That's the sound I'm shooting for. I took off a set of orange peelers to put on flowmasters, they sound terrible. Sound like a echo in a tin can.
Thanks again for all of your input.

for me, its loud it better be fast to. Ive never been interested in loud exhaust, I prefer the stealthy approach. just my 2 cents.
