AD Chevy hood emblems
When did Chevy change from a cast pot metal center emblem to a stainless steel emblem ? My hood came off a '48 and had a cast emblem and the 'thriftmaster' side badges. I'll be using the '51 parts off the old warped out hood.

Re: AD Chevy hood emblems
I may be wrong but I think Stainless was used on trucks that had a stainless trim package. Chromed pot metal on the plain Jane trucks. I've only seen stainless center emblems on trimmed out trucks.

GM has always used different suppliers for emblems, trim, frames, and bumpers.
Usually it was depending on which plant was closer to the supplier. |

Re: AD Chevy hood emblems
I think Henry50 hit it pretty close. One source says that they went to the stainless hood ornament in 53 but I am not sure of that.
I've had diecast, chrome plated stamped steel and stainless hood ornaments on different hoods. I can't find my normal go to source for year to year changes for some reason and it seems to be the most complete and accurate.
