Re: Aussie built 1980 c10
I went to bolt up the headers properly and noticed the flange was very uneven and wasn't consistent with the holes in the gasket. some sections were only sealing by 1/8" and others wouldn't have sealed at all. I wanted to deck the flange to make it have more sealing surface but the flange is welded on the inside, the area I am wanting to skim off! to overcome this problem I welded the outside then decked the flanges.
this is how it was originally ![]() welded up ![]() then it was no surprise to see that once I layed the gasket over the flange the exhaust ports were way too small which then called for a bit of time with the dremmel to do a bit of port matching. ![]() I then marked the gasket holes to the flange and ground out the holes then smoothed them off ![]() once I was happy with the finish the headers went to HPC in Leongatha for a ceramic coat ![]() |

Re: Aussie built 1980 c10
here are my personalized valve covers. I designed a logo with my initials (JB) then added engine cubes beside it. first i got hold of a set of marine v8 valve covers which gives me plenty of clearance between valve cover and brake booster yet maintains clearance for the roller rockers. I gave them a light prime and a basecoat of VHT ford blue
![]() I went to a local sign writer with my design and he cut out a stencil out of spray and mask film. all i had to do then was lay down the stencil over the blue base and i sprayed the valve covers wrinkle black. onec dry I removed the masking film and this is the end result ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bainsy; 01-03-2016 at 10:34 PM. |
