1/8in or 1/4in line for gauges?
Besides the size of the line is their any differences or advantages for using either size line for pressure gauges?

The gauge doesn't care what size line is feeding it. The pressure in the line will always be the same as the system regardless of the line size. The only thing larger or smaller lines will effect are the flow.

Is one size more flexible or easier to bend then the other. I'm just trying to figure out if their are any advantages to run one or the other

1/4" line will make the gauge respond quicker but that is only relevant on high performance applications. 1/4" steel line is not hard to bend but you MUST use tools. 3/16" & 1/8" steel can be bent by hand.

Your talking about dot plastic line correct? 1/8 is the way to go. A lot easier to run and more flexible. And doesn't "waste" the extra air filling the line

Yes sorry I am talking about plastic dot line. Do you need special tools to bend 1/4? Can you form it like hard line and it keep that shape?

No you don't need a tool to bend it but 1/4 line isn't the best choice if you have to run it in tight spots or make sharp turns if say you run it up under your dash. It will kink.

If I recall correctly plastic line to your oil pressure gauge will not pass tech inspection at the drag strip.
If plan to ever run at the strip I'd use 1/8 steel line or better yet -3 steel braided line. Steel braided although more expensive gives you flex as the engine moves around and great abrasion resistance. I like to run the steel braided line to a bulk fitting on the firewall and then a separate line from the fire wall to the gauge. That way no grommets thru the firewall and easy disconnect for the gauge or engine. |

Sorry I guess I left out important info in the question. I was talking about air pressure gauges for air suspension
