How are you storing your Blazer top?

Trying to get some ideas of storing my top this spring.
I'm thinking pulleys, and raising it to the rafters of our
Shop. Anyone have pictures of what they have done?
Also, can top be removed without help, just one person?
Thanks!

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

I screw some of these to the 2x4s that are under the top in that pic, and just roll it around my shop for summer storage. Makes for a pseudo work bench. lol.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

Wasted Income.... I wouldn't call it wasted
They are kind of as I was thinking, love the wench.
I'd like to design a track where I could move from
One side of shop to other. Floor rollers are nice, but
My 5 yr old might be to much for it.

Yea, i've been meaning to hang mine from the ceiling for a few years, and never seem to find the time to rig it up.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

Here is how I take mine off. Takes me about 15-20min by myself. Then to store it I pull it up all the way to the rafters and can park under it.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

Mine has been hanging in the rafters for 10 years. I put it up there myself, but it wasn't easy. Used a combination of cheap pulleys which made it difficult and very sketchy and then used cheap ratchet straps as supplemental support. If I was to do it again or had plans of taking down and putting it back up I would purchase a cheap HF winch mounted to the rafter.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

Welcome to the forum. You may want to put something under the top to get it off the ground and to keep the sides from spreading out with the added weight of the snow. They have a bad habit of developing cracks in the rear corners if not supported. When I've hauled a few, I take 2" x 4" pieces of wood that will reach from one side to the other (driver's side to passenger's side). I then attached shorter pieces of the wood to the ends in an vertical position. Here's may fancy representation. I______________I It keeps the bottom edges that sit on top of the bed rails from spreading.

Thanks for the tip.
This was a temporary solution because I had to move it, but I have ordered a new garage being built for spring 6,5 x 13 m so then I will hang it.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

I built this over the weekend. Not as cool as the winch version but it works and was about $40 in materials. I can pull the blazer up under it as the it's u shaped and the front 2x4 comes off. I wanted something to get it out of the weather quick.

Has anyone used a jeep top hoist? Any other ideas for us non-welder types?

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

Bump. Anyone familiar with this hoist system or something similar? http://www.saferacks.com/buy-direct/...ge-system.html

Looks like it would be good to go out of the box but weight limit is 220 lbs. Anyone know the exact weight for 2x and 1x wall tops? I'm guessing close to 250 lbs.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

I saw this jeep hoist system online somewhere. Has anyone tried making something similar to this design? it essentially goes under the hardtop and lifts it up from there. It would make hardtop removal a 30 second process.

Re: How are you storing your Blazer top?

I hung mine from trusses. 2, 2x4 at top on each end,
Single 2x4 on bottoms. Eye bolts, Rachel straps.
Added cable for over kill. I did move my front support to the bottom of the topper to match rear.
