I would look for a nice 4 bolt 350 block and do a 383. 400 blocks are getting hard to find and 383's are just as good.

I have a 400 040 over with 350 rods and pistons new rebuid. The new carburator dropped a screw out of the bottom and went on top of the piston and put a hole in one of the cylinder walls can be sleeved let me know if you might be interested

I have a nice 406 block, but not sure I am willing to seperate with it, i'm planning on buying a 2wd truck to build into a street truck and put this 406 in it. good 400 blocks are getting hard to find in buildable condition, and a 383 will work great, won't make as much power because of the extra bore on a 400 but close enough to not really make a big difference.

thanks for the input

383 is my fall-back. I was interested in the 391, but couldn't justify the extra $$for the 8 cubes. I can get a $460.00 rotating asssembly from Speedomotive (plus balancing). All cast- nothing forged, but for my less than 6,500 rpm purpose, it will do just fine.

Rogf4: Can you send me pix of the damage (tmlcom@comcast.net) & how much do you want for the block?

Got my heads this weekend. iron Sportsman 72cc chambers. Wieand (sp?) Stealth intake & Crane Energizer cam (10007). All that & Crossy still has a full basement. Of course, if I go 400, I'll have to drill out the heads.

I will eventually have a good running 305 for sale. Maybe 2,000 miles on it.
