In tank fuel pump ideas/suggestions for Ram Jet 350
My original 350 has a little over 450k miles on it and is in need of a long rest. I'm thinking that I'm gonna replace it with the Ram Jet 350. I know GM recommends using an in tank fuel pump, so I need advice on the best way to accomplish that. Is there a tank from another vehicle that would work for this or is there a good way to retro-fit a fuel pump unit in the factory tank?? And,...has anyone seen or heard about anyone using a small fuel cell (like a 5 gallon), mounted in line with the factory tank that could house the fuel pump and serve this purpose??

Re: In tank fuel pump ideas/suggestions for Ram Jet 350
Check in the LS engine section some people are using a newer fuel injected blazer tank that has the pump in it. Not a direct bolt in but appears to be an easy modification and is like a 31 gallon tank. There maybe an application that the pump will fit but the old tanks don't have baffles and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the in tank pumps need baffles.

Thanks guys for the responses.
But, just FYI, I just found this on the aeromotive website today. This looks like an awesome setup where you can keep your factory tank and just modify it for the pump. It also comes with the baffling that it needs. It's a little pricey, but for the convenience and the quality of aeromotive I'm gonna give it some thought. It's: http://aeromotiveinc.com/phantom/

I run the Aeromotive Phantom in-tank pump in my aftermarket 40 gallon tank. Pricey yes, but rock solid performance with high quality components, and very easy to install.

Are you running a returnless configuration? I see a lot of people using a Corvette filter/regulator with a single line fuel rail (LS1) style where the return goes back to the tank directly from the regulator.

I run a return style system with a fuel pressure regulator downstream of my fuel injection rails. The fuel goes directly to the tank after it passes through the regulator.

It would be nice if you use the 2000 era truck fuel pump, has a basket in it so if you run low on fuel, you will have a constant supply. Some of the problems you'll run into is sloshing away from the pick up. I'm using something like it, just had to modify a bit to sit on the bottom of my tank
