RetroSound kick panels
I was wondering if anyone has used the RetroSound kick panels with the speaker ports. Im not getting a very confidant reply from retro sound directly regarding if both speaker ports are at the same level between the left and right panel or if they are staggered one higher than the other like this. They keep saying they think its like the picture.
What i want https://www.retromanufacturing.com/c...00-1-2-ton-p-u what i don't want. http://www.classicparts.com/1947-54-...ctinfo/69-869/ Can anyone advise?

Re: RetroSound kick panels
I talked to another person at retro and she said the left and right panels have the ports at the same heights so i ordered a pair. I will post how it turns out when they arrive.

Re: RetroSound kick panels
Please do, and also let us know how far they protrude into the footwell area!

Re: RetroSound kick panels
Probably work good on your 52 not so good on our 47/50s with the side vents.
Years ago I made some wood speaker boxes that I covered with material that matched the seat for mine. They sit down in the corners and don't take up a lot of room but are too easy to use as a foot rest.

Re: RetroSound kick panels
Got the panels today. They are built semantically. both speaker ports are at the same height and both pointing in the same directions. Fitment is almost perfect. The panel is a bit tall and i needed to trim about 3/4" from the bottom. They also come with a speaker cover that I never saw noted in the part description. Panels are nice and thick and have a textured finish to the front face. I already have one installed and the picture is of the uncut one.
The speaker ports are near the top area on the panel and that i like as i see that some manufactures have the driver side one down low and pointing upward. That would drive me nuts as i know i would always be hitting my leg on it as i like to keep me leg over when not shifting. For better sound im going with a set of component speakers and not coaxial. it looks like if i find a set that has a set of tweets that have surface mount cups i can squeeze them in just above the speaker and dash area and have them properly positioned toward the driver and passenger.

Re: RetroSound kick panels
I will have a slight obstruction on the drivers side speaker as that's where my deck is mounted. I built a under dash mount for it to the left of the steering column because right now i cant bring myself to hacking the dash to suit a modern stereo deck.

Re: RetroSound kick panels
A friend of mine in Albuquerque that hinged the bottom of the center dash panel where the the old speaker goes. You pull on the ash tray to open it and he built kind of a glove box thing behind it and put his stereo in there. Pretty cool set up

Re: RetroSound kick panels
I was thinking about that but then if you dont have a remote handy all the time you either driving with the grille down or always having to open and close it when playing with volume or switching songs.

Re: RetroSound kick panels
Deck is not fully installed along with the speakers, sub and amp. Install was very easy and im wishing i had did it sooner. It sounds great! Opted to only install front speakers and skip on the rears. Went with a set of component speakers for the front and the set came with a surface mounting cup for the tweets so they were a nice easy install directly to the retro sound panel right above each speaker.
Installed some more Eastwood sound matting to the cab kick panel areas prior to installing the retrosound panels. The semigloss finish on the panels actually looks very decent "as is" and does not look unfinished and cheap. Now the rest of the interior has to start being upgraded to go with the finish look lol. A single 10" sub was put behind the seat in a small enclosure and secured so it would not bounce around. The Amp was put under the seat. The sub was just to provide some depth so the sound stage and get better clarity from the fronts thus stripping them of any low frequency duties.

Not to hijack, but I cannot see the photos posted - do I need to pay photobucket to see them? I would really like to see what everyone is talking about...

Re: RetroSound kick panels
I had thought of installing a speaker in the dash grill (4x8/6x9/5.25, etc.) with a woofer and pair of 6x9 under the seat by modifying the side panel to allow sound out and bounce it on the door. Maybe some tweeters up high if I can find a nice inconspicuous spot, maybe in the corner of the headliner (once I get one...).

Re: RetroSound kick panels
Does anyone know if someone offers a kick panel with speakers that also allows the stock air vents to be used? This is for a Task Force truck.
