Cowl Screen install
I tried a search but had no success. (Dinosaur, so shut up, lol).
Anyway, has anyone come up with a durable method of securing screening to the inside of their cowl? I have some stainless window screening I want to use for keeping the debris out. I pulled the cowl off to paint it and a rat decided to build a nest under the antenna area. So... I gotta get this done. Thanks. Rand

Re: Cowl Screen install
Thanks, I actually was looking for one of those threads as I remembered it.
Since I'm using the window screen I'm going to try spray trim adhesive.

Re: Cowl Screen install
I would try a bead of silicone around the edge then push the screen into it you can wet your finger tip and smooth it out nicely

Re: Cowl Screen install
I hot glued a piece of door screen on my last truck and it worked well.

Re: Cowl Screen install
My memory is foggy on this subject. Did they have a screen in them originally? Neither of mine have a screen currently but with leaves, pine needles and critters, it sounds like a great idea.

Re: Cowl Screen install
Not that I have ever seen are herd. I installed the black screen I had left over from the back porch job I did several months prior to the truck. It has been in the cowl for almost 10 years now and still looks fine.

Re: Cowl Screen install
No they never came with any kind of screen form the factory. They could have easily put some kind of screen in but that would have screwed up their "Planned Obsolesce" plans.

Re: Cowl Screen install
I think I'd use some gutter screen and bond it underneath with silicone caulk. I had a tree cut down because it filled mine up...

Re: Cowl Screen install
I used hot glue gun just to hold it in place on the cowl until I got back on the truck. Once it's back on the truck it will stay in place.

Re: Cowl Screen install
If you are worried about mice, rats I wouldn't use the regular household plastic screen as they will just chew thru it.
I think if they really want in they will chew thru the metal screen aswell but will slow them down. |

Re: Cowl Screen install
I used expanded metal lathe and JB Weld-ed it in place on my shortbed K10. That worked well. My longbed has one of the aftermarket bolt-in type that was installed by the PO.

I went with black like Ned. I really like mine, looks professional.
Also has the squirter cutouts. $29.95 ...hard to beat that.
