Drop question

Sorry this might be a stupid question. I have a 1967 long bed with a 2 piece shaft if I drop it 5" in the rear will I need a drop cross member or should I be fine? Already having a bad day my new wheels will need 1/2" spacer in the rear dang it lol. Thanks for the help everyone.

Your two piece drive shaft should be fine as far as crossmember clearance goes. The problem may be in "length" because when you drop the truck the available clearance in the slip joint is reduced. In some cases binding occurs and pinon bearings, u-joints, and output shaft bearings in the transmission take a beating. A 5" rear drop will require a look at drive shaft end play clearance, and an adjustable or shortened panhard bar, and relocated shock mounts with "shorty shocks" designed for stroke clearance within the available stroke range.
