Starter recommendation

I take it a BBC starter won't fit an LS? Just my luck as I have new gear reduction starters in both inline and staggered pattern.

If the old style won't fit, any preference on a starter that's decently priced? A bajillion GM vehicles work with GM starters, so I was thinking that's the way to go. Surprised the eRod doesn't include one.

Re: Starter recommendation

Just for info purposes . When I was looking for a starter for my ls2 I noticed there was some cheaper than others that looked to be the same and would fit fine . After looking into it a little farther I found that the ls2/ls3 starter was a lot more cost than the 5.3 starters . The difference is that the 5.3 starters is a 1.4kw motor and the 6.0 or larger engines have a 1.7kw starter motor . That's where the cost difference is . On a performance engine I would use the 1.7kw .

Re: Starter recommendation

Thanks! I ordered GM 12617229, which is spec'd for the 2010 Camaro 6.0, based on that. The "reman" spec is 1.4kw but do you think the OEM original is still 1.7kw on this one?

Failing that, do you have a 1.7kw part number?

Re: Starter recommendation

Dave , The starter I needed was for a tbss ls2 engine . The part # for it was 88877132 if I remember correctly . Some of the newer starters had a different way to hook up the wire ( had a pig tail ) . There are other availiable also with the 1.7kw .

Ever have one of those things you're sure you ordered but that never arrived? I said I ordered it, but it never came... and now I don't remember where I ordered it from!
