4wd throttle cable on 2wd

I've searched and found that the 4wd is a shorter cable. The problem I'm finding is, has anyone successfully done this?
I'm running into an issue on my 350, Holley carb. Factory throttle cable is too long. I liked the idea of using a cable knarp. I think I wound up fubaring the cable today
What is the proper procedure with the knarp? Does it go in front of the pedal or behind? Will I even have to do this with the 4wd cable?

Re: 4wd throttle cable on 2wd

I have a 1972 2wd with a 350 and a Holley carb. Stock cable bolted up just fine. Needed a tad extra twist, but it lines up perfectly.

Re: 4wd throttle cable on 2wd

How about your pedal? Problem was the pedal was almost to the floor board. Which throttle bracket are you using? I've tried the Holley one and the factory qjet,. The qjet seemed to have less bend in the cable than the hollery. The Holley bracket sits to far back and the throttle cable has quite the bend in it

4WD will be short due to the engine being further forward on a 2WD

Correct. That I know and that's what I want to figure out. Will it help the issue I'm having.

Option 1, cable stretcher / Option 2, just purchase a aftermarket one / Option 3, sell the 4x4 one on this board and recoup funds from the 2wd purchase.
I don't see how you can make it fit without jeopardizing safety.

Re: 4wd throttle cable on 2wd

i used a 18$ universal hot rod throttle cable from ebay.
very easy to mount and cut down with a little fine tooth hacksaw or angle grinder with cutoff wheel.

Re: 4wd throttle cable on 2wd

Nice find. I wound up buying a repop from classic parts.
Already out of the box it seems much more pliable.

I will let you know how the install goes.
