OEM fuel line question...

Pulling the 5.3 motor out of the Yukon today 2003, should I try to use the OEM lines for my conversion to the 67 or just build new lines? Or just use some of the oem lines like the ones leading to the fuel rail. I'm having a hell of a time releasing the top fuel line to the rail and thinking ibshould just cut it but if I can use the OEM, ID rather do that

It will be much easier on you to just run new lines than trying to make the factory ones work. The oem ones are formed to fit that truck and its doubtful they would work on your 67.I used steel braid on mine.

Yeah i was thinking that too. I got the dang fuel line off finally! I was going to try to use the factory pump also but I just bought the wrangler tank set up instead. So custom lines willake more sense

Yeah I had a heck of a time getting mine off to..wound up cutting/mangling them off with some side cutters..

I always use the lines that run down the back of the engine and to the transmission, then cut them off there and make new ones from there to the frame.

I did what ls1nova71 said. I'm still doing my swap but am going with the nylon? line with all the factory push on fittings from my donor vehicle as well as the sending unit/pump. I cut around the donor vehicles gas tank lock ring and bolted/gasket to a 80 something blazer.

That seems like the smartest thing to do. Do the OEM lines over the trans terminate in a quick connect or will they need to be cut and flared?

EDIT: just looked at 65standard's thread and it looks like he cut and flared the original lines with a compression fitting for a push connect to nylon lines. Slick setup

I cut the factory LS fuel lines right before they changed into nylon. Then added my own new nylon lines with compression fittings from steel to nylon.

I did the exact same thing, it's a common solution only I used Russell's cloth-braided ProClassic hose with AN fittings instead of nylon.
