1972 Jimmy - Brake Light Continuity bad 1 side

Howdy All,

I have a Brake light problem I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on. The right hand brake light is out, running lights work fine on both sides. I checked the socket, bulbs are all good.

What might cause the brake continuity to go out on one side only ? Anyone had a similar issue ?

Cheers,
James.

Could be several things, bad wire somewhere, or bad turn signal switch come to mind. Do both turn signals work?

If you can swap bulbs per side and they work on only one side...I would say bad ground or wire somewhere.

Thanks ls1nova71 - Ill have to run the right hand side back from the socket. I have had an intermittent problem with the turn signals so I'm guessing related.

Thanks lks dcvn,

I have indeed put he left bulb on the right and same result. No continuity on the RHS. Will continue to check out the ground situation.

I believe the power for the brake lights goes through the column (since they are turn signals as well). If your issue isn't at the back, I would be looking at the turn signal switch.
