It's a personal preference. Here is a pic of a really cool looking blazer with side pipes. I don't know anything about the member or the truck but I think it is pretty awesome looking.

Re: 72 Jimmy with side pipes

I think it's a very 70s throwback thing. I saw a squarebody on Saturday with pipes running up the rear corners of the cab, like a big rig. To each his own. It's your truck.

BUT- if you're into off-roading, that might be a consideration, as it puts the pipes much more exposed than they would be tucked up underneath.

The side pipes might also make your floor hotter where you sit, and will be louder that a rear exiting exhaust.

That's a nasty rust spot on the quarter just behind the door. An odd spot for it too. Look it over good when you go to get it. Check for filler.
It's a nice looking Jimmy from here. Single wall top too. Should be a great start.

i think i will remove the pipes...
they might of be cool back in the day...

going to take a magnet to check things out, the frame is very solid....
all body mounts are good, its been in the garage sitting since 2002....

could i ask some of your options on what it might be worth from the pic's?

Re: 72 Jimmy with side pipes

Those rust spots in the first pic are very significant. When you get those cleaned up they will be much worse than you may think. They will definitely go all the way through. As has been already mentioned, check it out good for more rust. I think it's highly unlikely to have a couple of spots that bad and not have anything anywhere else. All of that said, it can all be easily fixed. It's just nice to know what you are getting into when you buy something. I think it's a great start. In our part of the world it would be worth somewhere in the 7k range.
