Steering coupler(rag joint) Install

Just bought a new rag joint for my Suburban, and was wondering how hard it will be to install? I noticed the bolt that clamps it to the steering shaft has a "serrated" pattern on the head. Is there a special tool I need to tighten it? Or should I change it to a standard, Grade 8 bolt?
Thanks for any help and or advice. I'm planning on replacing my old one tomorrow morning if I can.

should be standard 12pt socket, soak it good tonight with liquid wrench etc.

Thanks. I forgot to mention the steering is a power unit out of a 72 Chevy truck. I don't need to remove the column and all that good stuff do I?

Hopefully your spline counts and diameters are the same.

If you wanted to modify it to a collapsible shaft then of course more work would be required.

I'm leaving a standard column in it. I was just looking at my original and the replacement, and they look the same, but it looks like I'm going to have to take off the P/S box to change the joint. I can't tell about the spline count until I get the old one off.

I can't remember for sure but it may be easier to slide the whole column up a bit if you need the clearance.

No need to remove steering box.
Will need to loosen steering coloum from dash and loosen where it goes thru fire wall.

OK. I will try that, or I will let a friend do it while it's in getting the lowering blocks installed.
