Pushrod help.

I am slowly assembling my lq4 long block with 3.17 heads, ls7 lifters, and a I am to the pushrods that I am afraid I ordered wrong. I bought a kit and accidentally got 7.35". The shop said they took off 0.005 but I am going to confirm tomorrow for sure. I am using the stock rockers with trunion upgrades. I have been reading about the comp cams push rod checker but everything I find is about roller rockers and adjustable units.

If I simply bolt down the rocker and then screw the rod checker until its at zero lash(tight), it comes out to about 9.25-10 turns back in.

9.5(turns)*.05"/turn + 6.8 (base height on checker) ==== 7.27??

what the hell do I do for pre load.

I called BTR and they said I should be good with stock 7.4

Sorry this is a noob question but I thought I did decent search before this.
