Super cool find at Pick n Pull!

Ran in to this bad boy today, 1978 Chevy Sport Nomad. Was in pretty good shape other than being dirty and was very original, which made me sad as I would have loved to own it. I was even more disappointed when I realized it had a 400 under the hood! Would have been great back in it's day. I couldn't get anything good off if it so I just snapped some pics. The front bumper was a tempting wall hanger though...

And to compare, this is what 90% of the squares that come to my local pick n pull look like. It's an 85 C10 and you can see just how much better the van was.

That's a neat Van! First time seeing a NOMAD version...did it have the "Swing Out Buckets seats"? I assume they are just swivel seats but I don't really know.

Yup, still had the swinging drivers seat in it. Interior was very original, no shag carpet to be found in this one.

I can see the van's steering wheel in one picture. I hope you grabbed the tilt column out of it.

No I didn't grab anything from it. I take it the tilt column from the vans is valuable or rare?

Here's one that sold recently: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=701104
As long as the key is in the dash (not on the column) then it will be very similar to a 67-72 pickup tilt column. I think they changed somewhere in the 1982 model year.

Aw man. I wish I was there the day it arrived, I would have bought it and lowered it and driven it as is!

Thanks for posting....I have been looking for one of these to match up with my Sport truck ...did not see it for sale so likely it was a yard cleanup unit and never advertised . Even has the Jack Carter sticker on it.

It was definitely disappointing to see it in the yard. Even had the original "wagon wheels" on it when it first came in judging by the first photo, which I took from their website. Would have loved to see it back on the road. Would have looked good next to your Sports that's for sure.

Re: Super cool find at Pick n Pull!

A rust free vehicle gets scrapped in rust country. Brilliant, I'm sure somebody would have rebuilt it. I do like my vans.
