8100/Allison in a 4x4 71???
Bought a wrecked pickup with a 8100, Allison and t case. I want to install all this in my 71 4x4. Has anyone attempted this on here? I always assume anything is possible, the old where there's a welder there is a way idea. I paid $500 for the donor. Anyone have any advice?

If you type "8.1 engine" into the Google search box above, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com", and click on the Google button you will find some good reading.... LockDoc

Re: 8100/Allison in a 4x4 71???
I'd ditch that nv 261/263xhd transfer case in a heart beat if I were you. I've rebuilt a few of them and in my honest opinion they are junk. the other problem is that the case will have the wrong front drive shaft drop for your 71 Dana 44. I'd be willing to bet someone has but a np205 behind an Alison but I've never looked into it first hand. The 8.1 will fit just as any other big block swap into a 67-72 4x4. I plan to swap the 8.1 from my suburban into my k/20 when I can convince my wife to get another suburban. Can't wait to see yours take shape.
