Re: Whyyyy
Many crash derby cars are there for a reason. Often rusted, salvaged, un-cared for vehicles, before they get transformed.

Re: Whyyyy
Every one lost inches up the value of my truck, so smash and crush away! . Honestly, I hold high value in life, not man-made machines. It's just a truck, and there's thousands upon thousands still in service. I enjoy car shows, motorsports, working on classics, and any mechanical device, but they aren't worth any heartache to me.

Re: Whyyyy
Why? "Freedom."
I always liked "crash up derby" until I realized most of the cars in those are no longer made. |

Re: Whyyyy
I run at least one derby a year. Sometimes decent stuff gets wrecked. Unfortunately it's part of the game.

Re: Whyyyy
Why not? The truck belongs to them, they are free to do whatever they choose with it. They made millions of these trucks. Ive never participated in a derby, as they aren't very common around here. But i would love to someday.

Re: Whyyyy
Probably rusted out I would think. I agree that vehicles aren't worth fretting over, but I'll be honest and admit that I once got a little worked up at a derby when a guy came out with a completely restorable 55 bel air wagon....

Re: Whyyyy
Demos are popular in our area. There is a truck that is a Ford or Dodge called the Terminator. It's won over $30000. Can't imagine how many times it's been rebuilt and money spent.

Re: Whyyyy
I see this as senseless in "my mind". But, we live in country that is presented as being free, so people who don't know any better have the right to do senseless things.

Re: Whyyyy
To you guys saying that this is a crime against humanity, I have one question for you. If you walked into a Pick n Pull and found a truck with a tilt, or a tach, or a set of buddy buckets, would you pull them as fast as you could and then come on here and talk about your "score" of the day, or make a thread asking why it was in the PnP in the first place????? I think I know the answer! Taking something that could have ended up in the junkyard and having a little fun with it is what it's all about.

Re: Whyyyy
I see no relationship within that comparison. First of all, if you need to exaggerate by saying we think it's a "crime against humanity" to make a point, maybe you don't have one in the first place. Second, I said "in my mind", so that only involves me and is not me telling anyone else what they should do. I never would. To take a good part from a truck already condemned to the crusher...as in title turned over ... you are at least saving that part from destruction to help another truck live on. No comparison what so ever. Using a part off a junker is not the same as destroying one. 4wd trucks are far less common than the cars typically used in demo derbies. That's how it began, cheap common everyday cars no one cared much for. To take from your point of trucks in the junk yard, how many here have noticed these trucks get picked clean before being crushed? We see threads here showing what's left of a truck asking if there is anything worth saving and replies come back, "Everything". Just check what is sold on the parts board. Nothing wasted is a far cry from destruction and I'm a nothing wasted kind of person. Your truck "could have ended up in the junkyard".

Re: Whyyyy
GUYS QUIT THE ARGUING!!! and mine was saved from the crusher, but if its not worth saving, pull everything usefull, and throw an old 350 in it and derby it, then junk it, thats if its not worth saving, like whole cab is rusty, and all the sheet metal. but mine is not going to be a derby truck,
