2011 5.3 van dipstick/tube question

Question on dipstick length, I purchased a 2011 GMC Savana AWD and am placing my '69 c10 on. The stock van dipstick is extra long but the tube comes apart which I assumed I could purchase the stock 5.3 dipstick and be good to go, it pushed right in and fit perfectly. Pulled it out to check the oil level but had no oil on the stick (I checked the level with the van dipstick so I know it's full). Anyone have a side shot of the oil tube so I can get a rough estimate of the length? Thank you, Ben.

Re: 2011 5.3 van dipstick/tube question

I don't have the measurements, nor do I have the answer for you, but I do have a 6.0 L96 out of a van and had thought about doing what you did. I found out the lower half of the van tube is not the same as the other dipstick tubes. Basically, what you're trying to do won't necessarily work. You'll probably have to buy the correct dipstick tube to make it work correctly. I hope I'm wrong and that you'll get it worked out though. Good luck.

No joke about the small stuff... nickle and dime ya to death!

yes the best coarse of action is to just buy a complete dipstick and tube bolt it on and be done with it. cant be more than a handful of dimes.

Dipstick on ebay

OKAY! a LARGE handful of dimes...
