Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I found another yesterday. A guy came to get a hood and I spotted the seat, black dash with parchment & tilt so I peaked at the SPID. Level C. Didn't get any pics but he'll be back for more parts.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here we go on EBay now an original Highlander Short Wheel Base with the YG8 Package. I think it would make a great easy project.

Love the blue one - great find! I'll be watching the orange one to see if it sells. Same color as mine but a short bed-Nice....

That orange one is in great shape. Doesn't need a whole lot.

that looks like a great project for someone! i'll be watching the bidding. it's a bit curious that each of the spid photos just barely misses the wheelbase length, and the rear axle looks mis-aligned with the wheel well in the side view of the truck. could be nothing, but you never know.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

although the wb is hidden in the pic, its model # is CE10734 which also confirms it as a 115 wb truck. agree, axle placement looks a little wacked though. could be a very nice truck to resto - swb highlanders aren't common.

Neat little orange truck. Find some interior and drive it for awhile.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Since this is where all the Highlander experts hang out, I'd like to ask a question that is off topic. I have the PA1 Deluxe Wheel Covers for mine. Does anyone know if they will fit on factory rally wheels? I might like to put them on for special occasions if they will fit, but I love the rally wheels.

Thanks

Hey Ed, I remember your truck from when it was eBay.

As for the wheel covers I'm pretty sure they will mount on your Rallies just fine.

Thanks Ray, it seemed to me that they should work. I went to look at the truck out of curiosity because of this thread. I had no intention of buying it until I saw it. Then I couldn't get it out of mind.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

They will work Ed. I have PO1's on my truck on 80's 15 x 7 rally wheels and they fit perfect. I'd suggest installing the PA1's on the rallys to make sure make they will stay on. When I put the PO1's on my rallys a couple of them fell off with the first 1/2 mile or so I just bent some of the clips back to hold them tighter and have had no issues since.

I have long maintained the best looking rally wheels, IMHO, are behind wheelcovers.

Thanks for the advice. I sure would to have them come off, they are near perfect. How about a picture of yours?

Thanks Tim, your comment encourages me to try them however I have always really liked the rallies

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Not long after I bought my highlander I posted pics in post # 155. I've changed a few things since then so here a couple pics with some subtle upgrades. I've acquired a set of factory buckets and console and will be getting the green plaid inserts installed in them. Ed F I scrolled through this thread and to see truck with PO1's and PA1's go to posts 610, 658 and 708.

Thanks for digging through the tread for pictures. If it wasnt for this thread I wouldn't have known that the wheel covers were correct. When the po held them up and said "I even have the original hubcaps" I thought he was mistaken. As always the knowledge and eagerness to share the knowledge is amazing.
I really like your armrest. Did you make that?
