tf trucks actually have decent door latches if they're not totally wore out
i run oem replacement latches on truk, have not had an accidental unlatch in 30,000 miles replacement latches bolt right in, no instructions required disadvantages of bear claw is how to connect the door regulators and how to lock them

Spend the money and get the Trique set up for tri-5's. bolt it in and call it a day. Be aware it's really difficult to put inside door locks on this set up but it does fit and work well. Not a great picture but it does show how well the kit works without ANY modifications.

Curious too.
Seems like everyone is recommending the altmans by TRIQUE ...... but damn ..... $350 and then I still need something for the rear panel. $500 in latches seems crazy. On the flip side - if it makes everything safe and work well........ then ..... Id like to replace the OEM kit that ogre posted above ....... just dont feel confident they are going to last long ........ |

Well, looked to alter a set of bear claw latches so that they would function with the door handles (inside and outside). It's just too much work. Bought a set of Altman from Summit Racing.

After your wallet heals up, you'll be happy you did.

back in the 70s to early 90s before repops were made junkyard parts were the only option i had many a door pop open back then, finally put a deadbolt on my 59 panel pass door as for slamming? no. they both require a firm close the design of the door and door rubber means an old vehicle will never operate like a new car no matter which latch you use

I'm a big fan of the Altman latches if you want to retain the stock outside and inside handle. They are expensive but like speedbumpauto said your wallet will heal. I have 4 on Big Bertha and could not be happier with them. I also have all my other 55-59 trucks still have original latches.
