Weekend Brake job
So, my rear brakes were not working on the 68. It's been a while since I worked on drum brakes, but seeing as how this truck has 4 there is no time like the present. Everything went fine while tearing down the drivers side. I pulled these out of the wheel cylinders. Does anyone know where I can get replacements? I suppose I could soak in evaporust and paint, but I am worried the paint would wear off over time. I think they are called wheel cylinder push pins or something like that. I found some on ebay, but that's it. Thanks!

Re: Weekend Brake job
Clean them up and use them again. No paint needed.
Clean with some scotchbright pads or steel wool. |

Cool, I was hoping that's all it would take.

Re: Weekend Brake job
These last forever unless they are on a 1 ton truck and a brake hold down spring lets go and mangles them beyond recognition.

I concur, just reuse them. Soak them in vinegar, clean them with scotch brite, flash them with paint if you want. They're gonna get dusty and you won't see them anyway, though. |

Re: Weekend Brake job
You could paint them if you're just that adamant about it, but they're just fine with a wire brush up and reinstall.
