Need opinions. 89 k30 in tank pump issues.

Recently got an 89 k30. It's originally a tbi 350 truck that has been converted to carb with an aftermarket pressure regulator/gauge feeding the carb. The truck has sat for 3 years without running.
I'm not getting fuel out of the pump. Is there a way to test the pump in the tank and bypass all the computer and old wiring? I unplugged the pumps two wire electrical plug and connected a good battery to the gray wire and to ground but it still did nothing. I'm thinking it could be a bad ground on the pump but I'm not sure without pulling the bed. Any insight or advice? Thanks

The engine runs excellent if you keep the bowl full with a squirt bottle.

Sometimes if the pump is stuck,you can try reversing the polarity.It may or may not work again.
Probably corrosion causing the problem.
I recently had to pull the tank on a 89 G-30 van because the pump was running but not pumping.The short hose on the sending unit was blown out!
These tanks are a pain to get out!
Govt.corn gas again.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know these tanks can be a pain, that's why I'll go ahead and just pull the bed. Plus I wanna put on a straight bumper, better hitch, and tidy up the rear wiring harness.

I would think that hooking power to the pumps gray wire and grounding to a freshly ground spot on the frame would kick the pump on as long as the pump is grounded properly. Am I correct or am I missing something?

Also I hear no noise at all from the pump. Like I'm doing nothing at all

You are correct. It's just a Weatherpack connector to the sender and pump hot lead. I have a handful of both male and female Weatherpack and Metripack terminals to in my test lead box so I can run tests without damaging the connectors.

Well, finally got the bed off and found the issue. The pump is toast and the tank is filled with rust. Just ordered a new tank/pump kit from rock auto. $200 bucks including shipping with new straps and lock ring kit. Hopefully this'll make it driveable!
