molding question
what is the best way to get that sticky gunk off? the paint does not have to be saved. thanks for your help, ken

I went to a local paint and decal place and got a pinstripe and adhesive removal attatchment. It is basically a big eraser. I used it when I has some chrome molding fall off to clean the surface of the adhesive.

Goof Off or this one other citrus based brand works well. But if you really don't care then paint thinner, turpentine have worked super easy for me in the past, maybe even some gasoline or diesel will take it right off in a jiffy.

believe it or not but i have always just sprayed a little of carb. cleaner on a rag and it will wipe off. have never had it do any damage to paint neither. just put a little wax back over the spot when your done and buff back out!

Are you using a heat gun to begin with?
If you don't have one, use a hair dryer. Get the molding hot, and then scrape along the panel with dental floss. That should get most of it off. Then heat it up and rub it off with your thumb.

I used the heat gun method to get my chrome rail caps off. I then rolled the soft HOT gooey stuff off with my thumb..... that was until I couldn't use my thumbs anymore bucause they were blistered, and burnt up
 oh well, live and learn
