porterbuilt frame stiffener question

I had a 64' long bed that I shortened to a shortbed size can I still run the porterbuilt frame stiffner? When I has shortened it had a fish plate welded on and also boxed. Will it being boxed cause any issues with the install.?

Here's the instructions with way more pictures, may help you eyeball it a bit from there. IMO it may affect it depending how thick your fish plates are but if you're down to modify the frame stiffener slightly to shorten it to accomodate where your fishplates are it should work.
I don't have one personally but you might get lucky and have enough clearance to make it work.

What is the purpose of that other than to give you a new mount for the trailing arms? As for fitting it to a boxed frame, looks like you could cut off the legs of the parts that fit inside the frame and just weld it to your box plates.

Am xmember could easily be made with 2x4 steel tube. Much cheaper than buying the pbfab crossmember and modifying it.

If the boxing plate that was added when the frame was shortened is interfering with the PB parts, I would remove that plate. Then install the PB parts. If the frame was properly welded and the reinforcement plate properly welded, there is absolutely no need for a boxing plate also.

In your opinion do you think it is worth it to spend the money a frame stiffner for a truck that will have maybe around 6 or more hp? I like the look of the pb one but if it's something that I don't need I'd rather spend on other things I need for truck

I don't see a need for it- ever. That is why I asked- other than side to side and some slight torsional strength improvement, I don't see a real reason for that.

I made mine a short bed too. I think yours will be fine spend your money else where.
