59 deluxe vs. Standard
Hey Fellas, quick question on my 59 swb small rear window:
In 59 you could order deluxe trim package with stainless around the cab. My truck was not deluxe and has a small rear window. I'm updating and going to install the stainless cab trim, but from the factory could you order a deluxe package with small back window? If yes, what type of stainless trim did the factory install around a small rear window? I ordered the chrome bead for the rubber seal from lmc for my new rear window, but it's not even close to fitting. |

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
In 59 according to my Salesman's Data book the cabs were either custom or deluxe. deluxe was the base model
Custom cabs and custom panels included a right side door key lock, bright metal windshield and side window reveals and vent pane windows trim, 30 series also included chrome grille, hub caps and front bumper. Custom feleetside had the bed trim. Custom options also included cigarette lighter, chrome dash knobs, dual sun shades, Arm rests,, fabric door inserts and seat panels Full view rear window could be added to either custom or deluxe. I don't see where you could get side trim on a deluxe without the custom package |

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
If you are talking about putting a chrome rubber locking strip in the rear window gasket GM never made one . The locking strip was rubber. This was an aftermarket idea Good luck on any of the aftermarket window rubber other than maybe Steele or Soft Seat. You got what you payed for. Sadly

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
Maybe not the first case of confusion over 55-57 offering "Standard" (base) cab and "Deluxe" (chrome trim) cab, but 58-59 offering "Deluxe" cab (base) and "Custom" (chrome trim).
Chrome brightwork around back and side of cab was carried over form '57. |

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
Ok, you guys are right about custom cab and deluxe cab. In the picture of the blue truck that 1project2many posted, I am looking for the trim around the rear small window. Was that trim used on the 55-57 models?

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
Including 58 and 59 too.
The stainless trim went around the cab only...not the rear window but did go around the windshield.

Re: 59 deluxe vs. Standard
Yes , I beleive he is looking for a good chrome bead that will fit in the rubber rear window gasket and not the actual stainless custom trim. That is why I said aftermarket.
