Can anyone tell me what my rearend came from?

I was able to read the following off the rearend in my 61.

3856525. GM3. HE1 14W

Can anyone tell me what this came from? It doesn't appear to be original to the truck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your time, Dave

Pictures would be really helpful in helping you identifie what type.
Should be a tag secured to a bolt on the front pumpkin
usually on the pass side

If it looks like this then it's an eaton ho32, original for a 60-62 1/2 ton truck

he HE was used on both the '61 R10 and '65 C15. You need to determine whether you have a Eaton HO32 diff as shown above or a truck 12 bolt.

Yes, it is a 12 bolt, not the Eaton.

Re: Can anyone tell me what my rearend came from?

I honestly had not hear of a C15 before.

So my 12 bolt is from the 65 C15 Truck?

Are there any rear disc conversion kits out there for these?

Thanks again.

I looks like 64 and up 12bolt for trailing arms. That is going by the track bar mount hole on the top right of the housing. Overall pics may help us till you what may have been to it during the swap into your truck.

Re: Can anyone tell me what my rearend came from?

Yes. That housing was used from '65-'72. I make 5 different rear disc conversion brackets. Two for the 6 x 5.5" wheel stud pattern and three for the 5 x 5". There are links to the 5 x 5 for sale threads in my signature line. If you are interested in the 6 lug, let me know and I will send you links to those for sale threads. There just is not enough room in the signature area for all of my for sale threads.

There are some aftermarket options if you want to spend some $$. I used the Wilwood D154 Kit.

Re: Can anyone tell me what my rearend came from?

Just finished putting my brakes on that same rear end today, only chose the Wilwood because the kit had a parking break.
