84 c20 5.3 sm465

Just figured I would post this swap I did for my friend. We Put a rebuilt 5.3 with cam and valve train upgrade in a c20 with factory z bar sm465 transmission. Took about 2.5 days so far. Pulled old motor last Saturday and installed the new motor and trans the same day. Finished 90% of the wiring that Sunday. Finished the rest today and finished the fuel system. Flushed the lines and started the motor for the first time. Started right up. All that's left is egr block off plates for the vett manifolds and test drive. Very happy with the outcome.

Re: 84 c20 5.3 sm465

For anyone interested corvette manifolds off of a 04 supposedly z06 work fine with the z bar with dirty dingo truck engine mounts. Keeps the engine in the same exact spot as it used to. We reused his factory sm465 bellhousing and and advanced adapters flywheel/clutch set up. He chose to use the upgraded center force clutch over a factory replacement clutch. This motor should be pretty close to 400 HP at the flywheel. Tsp cam, flat top pistons, trunnion upgrade and compleat rebuild .020 over. I can't wait until he gets the exhaust finished Monday.
