250 to 327 swap?
I have a 1968 327 block thats completely rebuilt but has none of the plumbing, distributor, fuel pump, etc. Just a rebuilt block. I want to put it in my 81 k10 that currently has a 250. Any estimates on how much it would cost just in parts to complete the swap? Labor doesn't matter because I'll be doing it with my grandpa. I was thinking probably somewhere around $1,000 to $1,500? Any input appreciated.

Re: 250 to 327 swap?
How complete is the 327? Heads and full sheet metal or just a finished short block?
Transmission type? Do you have the accessories brackets for the 327? Depending on year of 327 and if you kept the original heads, SBC brackets for your year of truck may not fit. My 68 Impala with a 327 had the Alt on the driver's side and AC compressor on the passenger side. You will probably need: V8 HEI distributor Intake of choice New carb or injection setup starter water pump fuel pump fuel pump to carb tubing/hoses exhaust manifolds/headers/exhaust system New water hoses New belts air cleaner housing and associated tubes and hoses throttle & transmission linkages & brackets for them starter new senders for lights/gauges maybe new fan, fan clutch, fan shroud(not sure if 6 vs 8 is different) new AC compressor hoses if equipped and current hoses won't work on 327. motor mounts Sure I have missed a few things. |

Re: 250 to 327 swap?
Do the heads on your 327 have the assy mounting holes in them?
If you were closer I'd give you everything you'd need! |
