Seat Inter-Change ?

I'm mostly a 67-72 guy so I have no idea here. Will the stock pickup bench seat (bare seat only, no brackets) from an '80 3/4 ton fit or mount to the stock seat brackets for an '83 square body? BIL in this situation and I have no experience here.

Re: Seat Inter-Change ?

I'm pretty sure they are all interchangeable. They all mount to the same locations in the cab floor from 73 to 87

No it won't. The tracks themselves are 73-76, 77-80 and 81-87. You will need tracks from a 77-80 to mount to you 80 bench seat. All the tracks from 73-87 will mount to cab floor. The tracks don't interchange.

The tracks are not interchangeable. There are threads already started on the question your asking, about swapping to bucket seats. Do a search and it will return several threads that will help with what your wanting to do.

Re: Seat Inter-Change ?

Here is a pic of all the tracks, from left to right in the pic, the years are
73-76, 77-80 and 81-87.
They all have different mounting locations to the seat, but they are the same mounting location to the cab floor. That why they don't interchange, the tracks must match the seat.

TKCR, thanks for the reply and the pic. Very good info here I will pass on to my BIL. The '80 seat is complete with the tracks and in better shape than the one in his '83 dually 4x4. From your posting it should be just a matter of pulling the '83 seat and tracks out and putting in the '80 seat and tracks, correct? Maybe 45 minutes tops, okay, maybe an hour with a beer break somewhere in there, LOL.

Yeah, just take the 4 bolts that anchor the seat to the cab. Do the same with the other seat. Put the 80 seat in the 83 truck and re install the 4 bolts, and it's a done deal. No need to swap the tracks, just leave them on their respected seats.
