Reverse went out buy still have all forward gears

I have a 1976 Silverado with original 350 engine and 350 turbo. Reverse went out buy still have ALL forward gears. Can it be fixed without overhaul or changing transmission?

Re: Reverse went out buy still have all forward gears

I don't think so but you will have to do some research.

Looking on a trouble shooting guide here is what I came up with

Copy and paste +
No Reverse

Low oil level
Check manual control linkage
Filter plugged
Modulator valve stuck
Direct sealing rings on pump hub broken or missing
Low/reverse clutch piston seals cut or missing
Number-1 check ball missing
1-2 or 2-3 valvetrain stuck
Intermediate servo piston or pin stuck so that band is applied
10.Direct clutch plates burned

Re: Reverse went out buy still have all forward gears

Thanks mr48chevy. I know it isn't low in fluid, but all the others give me something to check out. I can rebuild a motor from top to bottom, but never did give transmissions a try, and really don't want to, but if I have to, I will. I have another transmission, but the one in it is the original and all the forward gears work fine. Every other turbo 350 I've had, if reverse was out, usually first would be out. A friend of mine said there was a pump (?) or something like that, that was stuck. I don't know. I was just trying to get ideas before tearing into it. And you've given me a few. Thanks
