'56 wiper upgrade ever done?

I just bought a '56 panel. The stock wiper motor, which I believe is electric, seems to run pretty slow. I have had mid-50s Fords up till now, but it's been a while, so I am guessing at that.

Dumb questions:

Will an old stock motor run slower as it ages?
The wiper switch feels mushy; sounds like time to get a new one.

Has anyone somehow put different arms/blades to give an overall larger sweep area? Off hand, it doesn't seem possible, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

I believe if it's stock, it will be vacuum driven and will run slower. Based on engines vacuum could vary in speed. Most will update to electric wipers.
