Well this happened today.

Well after being on the road for five years, I experienced my first hiccup. I don't post a lot on this site but thought some may find this interesting. Here's a little back ground on my truck. The truck was built in 2012. Installed 2006 LS 4.8 4l60e. Modified the original harness myself. Drive by wire pedal, cruise control. Although I'm not a full time mechanic, I do have a back ground in automotive and full access to a shop with all the latest diagnostic equipment. Last night while driving my truck, it just suddenly stopped. Luckily the road was all down hill and I was able to coast back into town. After a tow to my friends shop, it took approximately two hours to figure this out. Let me back track a little, during the five years of being on the road, I experienced on three occasions that the truck was hard to start and require prolonged cranking. On one of the occasions after letting the truck sit for a while it started right up and would run. These incidents were so far apart from each time that I was unable to figure it out. In the shop, we checked crank, cam sensors both were good. Checked fuel pressure, it was a spot on. Checked injector pulse signal on the even side, it was good. Did not check the odd side we just assumed they were all pulsing. The truck had spark fuel and compression but would not run. We were really confused. We then ran an injector bleed down test. We found the injectors on 2 4 6 8 bank would bleed off pressure but 1 3 5 7 would not. Found odd side injectors were not getting any power. Traced the problem back to the fuse block. The fuse block was by current performance. I discovered that one of the connectors that the fuse pushed into was making intermitten contact with the fuse. It had worked itself back inside the box. I don't think the connector was ever seated correctly since day one. Think I also found my intermittent start issue. I'm not trying to say anything bad about current performance as I would use this same product again. Guess the moral of the storie is no matter what check your fuse box and make sure all the terminals are seated all the way down as this could have been a night mare.

I was helping another member here do some work on his truck, and his fuseblock (from BP, not from Current) had a similar issue. A couple pins on the fuseblock didn't feel like they stayed seated in the block itself, so if you removed or installed a fuse a few times, it looked like they backed out.

Similar thing happen to me. It was the 12 volt switched to the computer. The connector plugged into the fuse block wasn't seated properly. It would loose contact and kill the car. Drove me crazy.

Glad you figured it out, my factory fuse box that came with the crate motor had a bad connection to the main bars, caused heat and then several other issues. Replaced and all is good

I also noticed discoloration on the fuse itself especially where it was making intermittent contact. Looks like due to heat possibly small amount of arching going on for awhile.

That's how I found the problem. As I was tracing all the wires I found the block had a melted spot on it where the connector was arcing.

Good info, my harness has a very similar if not the same fuse block, Ill be sure to double check everything now.

On a separate note, your ls swap is pretty cool, it has that factory look like it was meant to be there.

Thanks sprint. It's my DD in good weather. I was just going for the stock look and used the KISS method. Yes make sure you CYA by checking that box. Here's couple more pictures. i

i had that same problem from a current performance fuse box. my fuse box problem was related to the fuel pump relay. i replaced everything electrical that was related to the fuel pump. lesson learned. nice ,clean truck daaaanz67.

I am disappointed to hear all the problems everyone in having with these boxes. I paid a lot of money for the dual fan fuel/relay box and my engine harness. I figured it would come with extra pins to add additional circuits but it didn't. I can't find anyone to supply me with the terminal ends.

I have called Bill from BP Automotive but he will not return my calls. At first he was great but once I ordered my harness well.....he's vanished.

Thanks for the compliment. I should have done a build thread on this truck. Took 6 months to build. It was a frame on build, everything was sanded frame wise. The only thing that's didn't get painted was the rop of the frame rail and under body. This included the ls conversion among a bunch of other things.

Not to many companies out ther left want to help after they got your money. The one thing I was really disappointed with current performance was; the pig tail of the fuse box was to short based on where I mounted the box. I called the company basically begging to buy the same color code wires to lengthen my harness. They said no. So I went to Summit Racing and purchased Paniless Wire rolls of misc. gauge wire to lengthen the harness. There went my cost savings. Told current what a Bunch BS. Recommended the sell harnesses with longer pigtails. They pretty much laughed at me.
